Flower does not go bad on a schedule. It goes bad because of what you expose it to. Get four things under control and a jar from January still smokes right in June; ignore them and a fresh pickup turns harsh in two weeks.
The four things that kill flower
- Air. Oxygen slowly degrades THC into CBN, the cannabinoid that makes old flower feel sleepy and flat. Every time you open a container, you trade a little potency for access.
- Light. UV is the fastest destroyer of the bunch. A clear jar on a sunny shelf is a slow-motion decarb.
- Heat. Above roughly 77°F, terpenes evaporate and the flower dries out. Cool and dark beats warm and handy.
- Humidity swings. Too dry and the terpenes are gone; too damp and you are risking mold. The sweet spot sits around 55 to 62 percent relative humidity.
